Deposition of Ureido and Methacrylate Functionalities Onto Silica Nanoparticles and its Effect on the Properties of Polypropylene-Based Nanodielectrics

Surface modification of nanoparticles is often utilized to tailor the interfacial properties in dielectric nanocomposites. Introducing different functional groups nanoparticles’ surface may induce localized states (traps) that can enhance performance material depending on their density and energy levels. Furthermore, filler affect dispersion quality crystallization nanocomposites which ultimately alter response material. In this study, functionalization silica demonstrated using 3-(trimethoxysilyl)propyl methacrylate (TMPM) 1-[3-(trimethoxysilyl)propyl]urea (TMPU) as modifying agents. The effect such modifications behavior, nanoparticles, well charge trapping transport under a medium DC field studied based polypropylene (PP)/ethylene-octene-copolymer (EOC) blends at 1% 5% concentrations. results show both ureido introduce states, but with Nitrogen containing TMPU tend deeper traps filler-polymer interfaces, compared silane modification. Comparing two types functionalization, ureido-functionalized resulted suppression space formation interfaces electric field, despite relatively larger mean cluster size nanoparticles.
